Um einen Strauß Blumen kreisen die Handlungen und Monologe junger, attraktiver Frauen und Männer in den Videos der Serie „ Zu Blumen flüstern“. Jedes für sich aufgenommen im privaten Wohnraum, zeigen sie eine dem Zuschauer zugewandte Frau, wie sie die Blumen liebkost, an ihnen reicht, sie zählt, an der Vase mit lackierten Fingernägeln Geräusche macht und den Strauß in allen Details flüsternd beschreibt.“ All these beautiful flowers for you to enjoy“, so einer ihrer Kommentare in Richtung Kamera. Corinna Schnitt bezieht sich mit dieser Serie auf das Internetphänomen ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response), das auf der Annahme gründet, bestimmte akustische und visuelle Reize, sogenannte Trigger, lösten eine positive Reaktion im Gehirn aus und erzeugten ein ‚Kribbeln im Kopf’. Dazu trägt die vermeintlich persönliche Aufmerksamkeit bei, die dem Zuschauer zuteil wird: Ein Gefühlt von Intimität vermitteln die Kamerablicke, die Wortwahl und nicht zuletzt der Flüsterton der Protagonistinnen. Diese hat Schnitt gebeten, einen Blumenstrauß als Trigger ihrer selbst erstellten Videos zu verwenden. Im Kunstkontext eröffnen die Videos Fragen nach Nähe und Distanz, nach dem Schein und Sein von Sinnesreizen und nicht zuletzt nach dem Verhältnis von Mensch zur Natur. Denn in der Natur in Gestalt der Blumen, die hier als medial übertragene synästhetische Erfahrung und Stimulus eines Wohlgefühls ausgegeben wird, erweist sich als ebenso künstlich wie die Nähe zu den Frauen, die diese Sinneseindrücke vermitteln. The actions and monologues of attractive young woman revolve atound a bouquet of flowers in the videos from the Zu Blumen flüstern seriens. Each oft he videos filmed in private homes shows the women facing the viewer caressing the flowers, smelling and counting them, making sounds with their polished fingernails on the vase while whispering detailed descriptions oft he bouquet:.’All these beautiful flowers for you to enjoy’. In this series, Corinna Schnitt references the Internet phenomenon Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR), which is based on the assumption, that certain acoustic and vidsual sensations, so-called ’triggers’, unleash a positive reaction in the brain, generating a sense of ’butterflies’ in the mind. The supposedly personal attention paid tot he viewer contributes to this feeling: a sense of intimacy is conveyed by the camera views, the choice of words, and ultimately the whispering of the protagonists. Schnitt asked them to use a bouquet of flowers as the trigger in their self-made videos. In an art context the videos pose questions concerning proximity and distance, the appearance and being of sensory stimuli, and not least humankind’s relationship to nature. Indeed, nature in the form of flowers- on display here as a media conveyed synesthetic experience and feel-good stimulus- proves to be just as artificial as the proximity tot he women who convey these sensory impressions.
